I think we have an answer to that question. If the CD won't boot in the Mac then that's it. The AHT disks can be that picky. Best to find one that is for your specific Mac. I've been down this road. I stopped the deployment of some G4s at a previous job because I ran the previous version of AHT on them and it found some weird problem with the logic board. After talking with Apple engineers they stated that it was a simple "incompatibility" between that AHT disk and the newer G4.
