Whereas Ron has had bad luck with TDK's, I've burned over 100 with no burn or verification errors. I've also had excellent success with the Verbatim "Digital Movie" DVD-R's (the ones that look like movie reels).
Watch the sales that Best Buy, Circuit City, etc, have weekly. I've been paying anywhere from 24.00 to 28.00 for a spindle of 25.
In other words, it may be a case of trial and error for you until you find that certain brand or brands that work the best for you.
Another example of what works for you may not work for me is labeling your DVD's. I bet I had made a dozen discs with nice professional looking labels only to find out that they would not play correctly in our DVD player that's part of our home theater. They would play in the computer fine but not so in the living room. I've since started using the little HUB labels and they work like a charm, no matter where I play the disc. Some folks out there prefer just to use a "Sharpie"
