When the Mac prints to the ImageWriter in either Best or Faster, the
ImageWriter is placed into graphic modes. In both the Best and Faster
mode the controls on the ImageWriter itself are over ridden and have no
function.

If you send a print job to the ImageWriter using Draft mode, the
ImageWriter is in ASCII print mode and the controls on the printer
itself should function. Sending a "Draft" print job to the ImageWriter
with the control on ImageWriter set to Best will make a nice print out
than if set to faster.
