Yeah, that's good deal. The G3 B&W Macs have a lot of potential and don't have the inherent temperamentalness of the Beige Macs. I paid twice that for a G3 450 about two and a half years ago. Worked like a charm for what I needed. Then my needs grew and I got a G4 733 Quicksilver.

You should get plenty of longevity out of your "new" G3!
