The Maynard Systems MaynStream, at least some models, is actually a Tandberg 3100S deck, and it is supported by Retrospect. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles as the later HP DDS-2 drives, the 3100 being DS-1, but after Nakamichi bought Maynard they clearanced all their DAT products for $99 at one of the Silicon Valley liquidators, and some of us picked up a good bargain. Nakamichi had a devil of a time with its next product, a CD jukebox, and that product failed in the marketplace, and the stock of that product was clearanced at another S.V. liquidator. For a G3 MT, there is a bezel available for a DDS drive, allowing the drive to be mounted internally. (Earlier Quadra models also supported internal DDS drives, and bezels were available for these machines. The Apple Network Server also supported a DDS drive). -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
