I'm not sure this is relevant, but I was demonstrating some Photoshop techniques on a 7000 that has a G3 just a little slower than my 466 G4 in a Beige. But the operations seemed MUCH slower. More than would be accounted for by bus speeds, I think.
It seems that a number of Photoshop operations use Altivec, which is available on a G4 but not a G3. That might account for the difference I saw.
