B&W Booting into open firmware

I just picked up a B&W 350 rev 1. I wiped the HD, installed 8.5.1 
(IIRC) from a CD that was made for B&Ws. Ran fine, tested some ram in 
it and everything was OK on Saturday. Tried to boot up today and I got 
the startup chime and the HD spun up, but that was all, no video out 
etc. Put in a pram battery that was good about a month ago from a beige 
G3  and the same thing happened.

Left the Mac plugged in for an hour or 2 and tried to restart and it 
booted into open firmware. Typed mac-boot as instructed and got the 
following error message:

/pci80000000/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/@0:5,\\:tbxi
I tried starting up from the install cd by holding the c key, and it 
still boots to open firmware.

Anyone have any idea what could be the cause of the above error message 
and how to fix it?

This is the first time that I have had any system boot into open 
firmware so I am at a total loss here
