Hi Bruce,
Yes, I'm aware of using classic apps in X, but I would much prefer to do in a window in X where I can control many paramaters like system, memory, processor emulation, etc. Basilisk certainly seems to be a kludge on the os x platform, as you say, but it is anything but that on other platforms, that run classic mac apps and games both speedily and in a window.

Now if you want to see a kludge, albeit an interesting one, check out pearpc on the windoze platform. It is a ppc emulator which will run OS X, and only 40 times slower than the processor in your PC. You have to admire the programming, if not the speed.

Does anyone know if there is a version of basiliskii with sound (then I would never boot into os9 again) that will work under X?

Bleah!!! What could you possibly need to run under OS 9 that you would prefer *that* gawdawful kludge to simply running it under classic?

You DO know you don't need to boot into OS 9 to use Classic OS programs, right? I've not had any problems running 68K programs under Classic, a screenshot of ShufflePuck II under OS X
