I have two good B&Ws (both are Rev. 2s) and two bad B&Ws (both are Rev. 
1s).

The lights (little green LEDs) on the motherboard are a good trouble 
shooting tool.

While I don't know the significance of all of them, there appear to be 
one for each UATA/EIDE bus, one for the USB or Firewire ports, and 
numerous others, each of which cycle in a predictable fashion in a 
working machine.

When the cycling of the lights is not "right" it's just about assured 
that the machine won't boot ... even if the chimes comes on at power-on.

Sadly, I've not developed my B&W skills well, so I need crutches like the 
lights.
