Hi Listie's
This is going to be a bit long...
I have a friend bring me her, Beige/G3/DT.
A circut breaker was tripped by her hair dryer and the Mac was on. After
restart the "?" folder came up. I had installed 10.2 on this machine last
year for her and updated it to 10.2.8 a while back.
It has a G3/400MHZ overclocked to 500. Never been a problem. Always
started till the breaker trip. @56 Meg of Ram, 13 Gig HDD, VRAM upgrade LG
Burner. Has run for a year flawlessly.
I dropped in my own 10.2 CD, fired it up, no video! Four PPRAM resets (Bongs) later video, mac symbol comes up, and reboot automatically.
Put in 9.22 CD, it Boots!, Get to disk util run repair, finds major
problems can't fix some. Run a few times still some can't fix.
Still won't start on Jag CD! Ran Techtool Deluxe fixed somemore stuff.
Was able to get booting from Jag CD now. Ran it's native disk repair. It
said disk fine after repairs, repaired permissions. Still can't get to
boot from HDD! Sometimes on start, no video, PRAM zap 4 times OK, some
auto restarting, some "?".
OK, so that's it generally. Any ideas people?
Thanks, Gareth
