I posted this at the end of a multi-sectioned reply regarding a (new to me) G3 Beige I purchased and I think it got buried as there were were no responses.

<I bought a new18 GB SE/LVD SCSI 10,000 RPM (hot!?)Seagate Cheetah 6 months ago and never used it. How does this drive fit into the picture with this G3? I think it's 68 pin with an adapter for both 80 and 50 pin connectors. The drive itself can not be terminated. Can I use the existing card bus or other SCSI bus or would it be recommended to get a different controller card. I almost purchased an Adaptec 2940U2B until I saw somewhere that it wasn't OSX compatible.

What good performing SCSI cards are available for this drive/computer using OSX that hopefully won't cost more than what I paid for the entire computer ($69 )?>

New comments and questions:
The Beige arrived yesterday and despite what the seller and the Apple info. I looked up stated about having built-in SCSI, there is no SCSI card and I found no SCSI bus in ASP. It showed Internal ATA 0 (hard drive ID=0) and Internal ATA 1 (CD-ROM drive ID=0). I would think these would be on the same bus. The only card I see is the "personality" audio card.

The built-in video must reside on the mobo since all I can see is the chip with ATI 3D Rage II + DVD. Does this mean it will support a CD/DVD - RW upgrade providing any other required extensions are installed ?

This machine has 10.2 and 9.2.2 and I found the OS9 ASP to have much more info than the OSX ASP as another lister also noted. (Yes, I clicked all the tabs!). Couldn't tell I had a Rev. 1 machine until I went to OS 9 ASP which told me the ROM info.. So no multiple ATA drives supported on this machine.

Thanks for all the previous help and TIA for any forthcoming,

Mike
