Not sure it this is what you are looking for.
Mac OS 9 will read 800K floppies provided the machine
is equipped with a floppy drive.
Reading 400k floppies went out with System 8.1 upgrade
"The 400K MFS floppy disk format is not supported by
Mac OS 8.1" --from OS 8.1 install upgrade file.
