1. His login with his ISP snags. What's the cause?Often this is some minor setting, that isn't right. Hopefully the ISP has a Mac friendly tech. Get the ISP support on the phone, disable the existing account (on the Mac) and set up another new account. Going through it with the tech to be sure that all passwords, DNS address, POP and SMTP address are as the ISP wants them. If he still has connection problems, then it may be hardware. That could be anything from the modem itself, to the phone cord, RJ11 connectors, telco wall plug or Mother Bells phone line. Start with the simple and make a new account. Really easy to do in OS X and may solve the problem completely.
