I have a imac that I installed a 60 GB HD2 days ago. I installed 10.3 and
everything seemed ok.
A few problems with double typing letter when doing email and programs like
DreamWeaver quitting or classic quitting while I am on the internet.
That doesn't sound good.
The big problem was the HD The first morning after I went to start up and
got the blinking question mark. I could start from cd but I could not hear
the HD start up. I opened it up, re-seated the HD and pushed the reset
button and it booted. Ran ok all day but then I started it this morning and
the same problem. I tried what I did the previous morning but no go.
I removed the HD and put in the old 6GB and I am using it right now.
I put the 20 GB in my B&W and booted, it started up but I have grey
fuzziness and the display (a Sony 21") I tried to change it in the pref
folder but it will only let me have 256 colors. I am running the disk
utility to see if there are any problems, but it is hard to read like this.
I told it to repair permissions and then restarted the computer. Grey
start-up is good but it is back to fuzziness.
That doesn't sound good either. Also, I would boot from a CD and verify/repair the disk, not just permissions.
Any ideas on haw to get this bigger drive back into my imac?
Since both machines have odd problems with that hard drive installed, I'd say it sounds like the drive may be incorrectly jumpered or defective. Is this a new or used drive? Did you reformat it at some point?
