Ok, I have a beige G3 that will not boot.
I have tried everything. It was running Panther 10.3.5 fine before via xpostfacto.
The hard drive is fine, it boots right up on the IDE bus of my G5. I tried booting to cd (panther install) The grey Apple shows up with the rotating circle like it will boot into the setup, but it goes to a black screen and the CD stops spinning. I have: Radeon 7000 from xServe, 256mb from OWC, overclocked processor. I have reset pram, nvram, cuda, everything!
When booting from hard drive it just gives a white screen with nothing.
Yeah, that sounds like what my G3 has done every time I've tried to upgrade it to 10.3.
You could try yanking the Radeon and using the internal video for the install. Me, I've given up. I'll stick at 10.2.8 on this one, it runs it quite happily.
