exactly!  external terminators are often better made.  lvd drives don't include a
terminator (at least not the early ones) because for lvd you need and active 
terminator to
get full benefit (maximum cable length, number of drives, and data speed) and there 
just
wasn't room to build one in on the controller board like there was for passive
termination.  this also allows customers to use forced perfect termination if they wish
which is even better in non-ideal environments, i.e. the real world.
