I just wanted to make sure that overloading the port will not result in any permanent damage, that's all. It's the sort of thing that's better learnt about second-hand.
At some point you blow a fuse. It can be replaced but requires finding it and soldering a replacement on the motherboard. Not something for the average user.
Check the Apple Knowledge Base archives, there is an article there that discusses the available current and common loads.
