The early then later NuBus PowerMacs as well as the PowerMac 7xxx and later Performas were most succeptable to blowing ADBs during hot-swaps.
And of course, even if you didn't blow the port during the hot-swap, you still ran the risk of the system polling the port while you were doing the swap. Then it would freeze (mutex) and you'd loose everything in your disk cache. Yes, the ADB status was polled, not interrupt driven.
