if the Mac was designed the way it should be, then It would top the pc world, but Cisc chip AKA x86 chips can do some things fast then Risc.
I think you're focusing on the wrong area though.
Efficiency and all that processing power is secondary.
It's the software and interfacing that counts.
Mac users may have no use for floppies, but in order to update machines in industry one often needs floppies, RS232 etc.
Though I hear they're gonna use 125 G5 iMacs to control the space shuttle once it comes back into service...
