Well if there's others like me on the list, there's a few new to Mac, or trying to be new to Mac users here :-) I'm still trying to find the spare cash to get my first OS X capable machine. I've collected a small selection of old 030 and 040 systems with the intent of learning more, and have managed to expand that to a first generation PPC unit and recently a PCI based PPC one. Unfortunately it is a 7600/120 which doesn't quite get there for OS X which is my real aim (I'm primarily a Linux user and before that OS/2, Amiga and 8bit systems - Windows has always been an unpleasant necessity for work). As a new user I don't think trying to put OS X on an unsupported Mac is wise, although I am on the US OS X list too. Also unfortunately the HD in my newest box has died, so whereas I was just beginning to get the feel of OS 9 things have gone belly up :-( With the advent of OS X my interest has really been sparked. The Mac platform really has its roots firmly in the traditional hardware and software designed together era, which must do wonders for the ease of coding for performance and reliability - although that said I find Linux pretty much shows Microsoft what could be done and find it a solid platform. With OS X and the BSD roots to the system I'm dying to take a look - anyone want to donate the guts of a B&W G3 to a good cause?! ;-) I'll go back to lurking and learning for now, until I have the hardware to play with and need to ask some questions :-) -- Paul Tansom | Aptanet Ltd. | http://www.aptanet.com/ -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
