Why not go for the 14" iBook? I did, and never regretted it.
You don't get any higher resolution then the 12" model, but the bigger screen is a still much better.
The whole machine is still small and compact. Especially compared to some friends' brand new Windoze-laptops, which are noisy, bulky and ugly. They also seem surprised how long my battery lasts; their's don't seem to last through a DVD-movie, while I can watch almost two DVDs before it's flat
