Actually, matched pairs (same size) with identical latency (the "CL" number) will give you increased performance. Other than that, *any* PC3200 stick will work. 512mb sticks are a better value than 1gb sticks right now.

The iMac G5 will seem unbelievably fast after my poky 8500/G3/300, that increasing performance isn't a big issue at this point, so it seems wasteful to chuck the stock 256 MB RAM module that the iMac G5 comes with. However, perhaps I should take that into consideration that in the future, it may not be possible to find a 1GB Module to match the one I buy now.
I have some questions after comparing the listed specs of some of the PC3200 modules available .
- What is the difference or significance of "CAS 3.0 DDR" vs "DDR".
- What is the significance of "64x8 16 Device Solution" and "128x64"
- What is Non ECC mean?
- What does 8-Layer Low-Noise PCB mean?
(I assume PCB means printed circuit board)
