Don't know what trouble "you made", but seen the period no special trouble.
To go sure: Goto -> Systemfolder -> Preferences and remove to trash (but
don't empty!): AppleMenu prefs, Finder prefs and System prefs.
Rebuild your desktop now by restarting while holding Cmd (=apple) + Alt
(=Opt) till you see the window "Are you sure....". Click OK and never stop
this. All OK? Empty trash. Not OK: Try zapping PRAM =DOCS (Delete=backspace
+ Option=alt + Command=Apple + Shift) holding during startup and let it
chimes at least 10 times.
