Hi again, Listers,

My two otherwise defective OS 9.1 HDs, which will be eventually removed
and hopefully replaced by one new and bigger IDE HD in the somewhat
foreseeable future, are good for only one thing -- ejecting CDs, floppies
(er, well, more on floppies in a moment) and Zip disks when I initiate
the eject command.

On my OS 8.1 HD -- which I'm now forced to work with almost exclusively
for the time being and is OTHERWISE good -- every time I try to eject a
CD, floppy or Zip disk, I get a hangup with the little "wristwatch," and
the computer refuses to eject as commanded. Doesn't matter whether I use
Command-E or drag the icon to the Trash; it simply won't eject. But when
I do a restart "elsewhere" -- on either of the 9.1 HDs or from the
Utilities CD, the eject commands work perfectly well. Does anyone know
how come?

And, as of yesterday, suddenly all floppies are being rejected -- they
cause a freeze-up, no matter what I booted up with. The floppies
themselves are good. I know because I use them in my Powerbook. As in
the same floppy I just successfully copied data onto from the PB, I
insert it straight into the G3 and it immediately proceeds to hang the
G3. Any ideas why?

Thanks again,

~Yersinia.
