My B&W G3/300 now 900, OS 9.1, will not keep the 6 GB HDD asleep. It spins down but 5 to 10 minutes later spins back up again.
My MDD 2x1GHz will not sleep either, it spins down the hardisks, turns off the monitor, but doesn't actually sleep. If I put it to sleep it wakes up after a few seconds (as opposed to your minutes) and I have diagnosed this to the USB peripherals.
Try disconnecting all peripherals leaving only the keyboard and mouse. Is it an optical mouse ?
Though you say 5-10 min I doubt your reason is the same as mine...
