Those IPs belong to porchlight.ca, presumably that's your ISP, if so you should be using mail.porchlight.ca to send mail (SMTP server), pop.porchlight.ca to receive (POP server). (Actually, both of these resolve to 66.59.162.173, but it's better to use the names in most cases.) See <http://www.porchlight.ca./smtp_auth.htm>. This page also talks about authentication, that might be your problem.

Yes porchlight is my ISP. I do suspect that authentication is the problem as my problems started in September when they started to use SMTP authentication. I have authentication turn on in Eudora. What I don't understand is why I can send mail when I am connected to one IP address and not the other. The support tech I talked to did not even know that those IPs belonged to them nor did she know what kind of authentication they used. Is there anything I can do at my end?
