Jo writes back: < Why laugh? I still have a beige DT266, running 9.2.2 and 10.2.8. Main-Family-Mac! (Mail me OffList if you want setup-details.) And 25 of my customers still have at least one beige at work. Nothing wrong with a beige to start Mac-ing and even not to stay with. After all it's all dependent on your needings.> I'm not laughing either. Just to reassure you, Dave, not only do I also have an "old and outdated" beige G3 (DT233), but on top of that, for the time being I'm only running OS 8.1 on it, and even "worse," my other Mac is REALLY antiquated -- haha, it's a Powerbook 190 running OS 7.5.5. But, like the G3, the Powerbook serves my purposes. I do plan to bring the G3 up to 9.2.2 eventually once my "bad hard drives" issue is resolved, but for now, I run quite well with the setup I have now. And I really doubt I'll be going to any form of OS X unless or until there comes a time when there's software I need and can't get a version for which is below OS X. Jo, you're absolutely right. A beige G3 is fine just as it is, so long as you can do what you need to do on it. ~Yersinia. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
