I have, of course, a blue drive... sigh...

Saturday I can try it on my friend's Beige G3 running 10.2.8 with a USB card. I actually bought it for her so she could sneakernet some work files from a PC back home to her Mac and so on... She will have some different floppies to try out... This is not supposed o be more trouble than it is worth...

I have one of the 2nd generation drives (translucent white) and have had few, if any, problems with it. I understand that the older (blue) models were more troublesome.

Regardless of the model, you can only read and write 1.4 MB Mac and PC diskettes (and, I believe, 720 KB PC diskettes). You cannot read or write Mac 800 KB floppy disks.

I just received an Imation Superdisk, which supposedly works, but I
cannot get floppies to mount.

Inserting any one of several floppies results in the disk spinning
briefly, then nothing... ASP shows the device, I have tried it through
a hub, directly plugged into the G4 (Sawtooth, w/ 10.3.6) USB bus and
also plugged into my USB2 card. Same results. Imation's support site
says it should work, and their only troubleshooting advice is to plug
the power supply directly into a wall socket instead of a surge
protector. I tried that, but it didn't help. I also tried plugging
into the USB port on my B&W G3, also running 10.3.6, same lack of
results.

Its not just that the disks don't show on the desktop - the finder
doesn't see them and neither does Disk Utility.

Does anybody have any ideas, or experience with these puppies? Anyone
had success with Jaguar?
