Anyone?? Does this sound like something that you've came across?

That's a kernel panic. A few revisions back, Apple stuck this friendly overlay over it and removed the debug messages to the logs. I actually preferred it the old way.

What does that mean? Kernel panic? It has happened twice just today.. Thank you!

A kernel panic is the equivalent of the old OS system bomb message. It's a crash, the system has detected that something's gone seriously wrong and halts the system to ensure data isn't corrupted (in theory).

Since it started happening immediately after you updated the system software I expect that something went seriously wrong with that update. Normally this is more indicative of a hardware driver problem, or possibly bad memory. However, in your case I'd recommend downloading and re-installing the 10.3.6 combo update.

It's possible that running Disk Utility and repairing permissions will fix this, but I suspect not, a kernel panic is a serious crash. If re-installing the combo update doesn't fix this, I'd suspect hardware failure coincidental to the update. Check and reseat your RAM, any PCI cards you have installed.
