--- You wrote: Would it do any good to put panther on my beige desktop? (It's got Jaguar right now) --- end of quote --- I've had no problems with video on Panther since XpostFacto tried to fix it. Make sure you use the most recent version. The problem may be that there are three different motherboard revisions in Beige, 1,2 and (surprise) 3. This is different from the rom revisions which are A, B and C and can be upgraded. Your are stuck with your motherboard revison unless you want to exchange the whole thing. No reason to do it.
The only real difference between motherboard revisions is the video, though there may be other subtle changes. Therein may be the differences in performance with XPostFActo. I have a rev 1 board and it works fine in Panther, motherboard video included. Though I don't use it anymore: I have a Radeon 7000 video board which is far superior to any of the motherboard video chipsets and always works fine with XPFacto. Go for Panther. It is pretty wonderful. The only heads up I have is that if you log on as System Adiministrator, you may not be able to access the full functionality of your printer, at least with older Epsons. Log in as a user and this isn't a problem. It wasn't a problem in Jaguar. (Just discovered this last week.) Rich -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
