I have a Power Mac G4 466 running OS X (v. 10.3). FTP access is enabled in OS X. I also have FTP access enabled on
my D-Link DI-624 router, which is part of my home set up. When I try to access this computer remotely using Fetch
or Fugu, I cannot establish a connection to this computer. It attempts to connect, but never completes the
connection. It simply hangs for minutes on end and I have to quit the program. But when I use the Terminal app I
can access my computer remotely without a hitch.

Any suggestions about what to do?

Make sure you have *both* ports 20 and 21 open in the NAT Router, and mapped (forwarded) to your Mac. Make sure those ports are open in your Mac's firewall.

If the FTP client can initially talk to the FTP server (view MOTD, send commands, get quick responses), but then fails to open a data connection (get a directory listing) then port 20 is not opened/mapped correctly. Try also switching to Passive Mode in the client.
