Well, it may be an OS problem......
Anyway, we had a power outage last night during a wind/snow storm. Ever since then, my Sawtooth (450/896mb RAM, 10.3.6) has been running much slower. I thought I would verify the disc, and repair permissions in case something got hosed there. I tried starting up Disc Utility to do these things, but when I do, it says "Gathering Information" and I get the spinning "busy" indicator, but it goes no further. And the only way to get out of it is to force quit. Everything else seems to work, just slowly with a lot of spinning beachball. Anybody have a clue what's happened and how I can fix it?
Thanks!

Run fsck -y from the console at startup. Did you boot from the Panther install CD to try and run Disk Utility?
I will be hosting my next seminar on advanced time travel in two weeks ago.
