It may be the case that you'll need to reset the CUDA (and, perhaps, the PRAM) 
before the B&W will properly work with the new card. As a rule, you should 
always reset the CUDA when changing hardware configurations on machines that 
have them.

There is a firmware update to allow G4s in the B&W, but it's not from Apple. 
You can find it at OWC <eshop.macsales.com> and probably other sites.
