Hi Geoff,

Have you tried replacing the on-board battery in one of these troublesome machines?

A dead or dying battery can cause the PRAM to loose monitor settings. Then, I'm not entirely sure if the PRAM on that model stores the monitor settings. Still, it might be worth checking out, if for no other reason than to switch batteries with one you're pretty certain isn't dead.

Bill.

Hi Folks,

A bit of an issue here and I am in need of some suggestions. I believe
this is a software issue, but I'm not sure.

I have three B&W 350 MTs running 10.3.5. The monitors on two are 17"
SVGA and one is running a 21" SVGA monitor, all using same video
adapters. All have been using the monitors, for over six months allowing
various resolutions from 800 x 600 to 1024 x 768.

About six weeks ago, the one utilizing the 21" went to 640 x 480,
overnight. All other selections are dimmed out when one goes to the
display settings. A week later one with a 17" monitor did the same
thing. I have tried a number of things to get them to change to the
higher resolutions.

1. Changed the video cards, including the one from the computer that
allows one to set the resolution.

2. Checked the adapters to insure they are set the same and they were. I
also switched the adapters from the one that worked to the others.

3. Zapped the PRAM.

4. Switched the monitors.

5. In the case of the 21", it came with drivers on a CD. I deleted and
reinstalled the drivers.

6. Next step, reinstall the OS?

7. Any other suggestions?

Geof
