If it's one of the old Seagate Elite series it will outlive you. Back
when those were the 'nee plus ultra' of server drives the larger sizes
sold for almost $10K each. They also carried a 10 year warranty. A HD,
with 10 year warranty for server applications, is never going die in
conventional use. I figure the two old 47 GB Segate Elites I have will
still be running when there are no computers left to run them.

of your life getting this working than you will ever save over simply
tossing in a $75 SIIG ATA controller and a $100 160 GB ATA drive, and

Well said. Convenience and low cost make it hard to argue with ATA.
With SATA, I'm not sure that SCSI even has a place in the server arena
anymore.
The biggest value is pulling the side panel off the computer when a
coworker walks by and he spots the stacked 5 1/4" drives and gives you
the "Holy Sh*t, What the hell are those thing?" :-)
