Try deleting the font menu cache, and other prefs and those files with a number in parenthesis (i.e. '(10)) from both the user->library, the office folder, and the system->library
Also delete the MS fonts, and do a disk permissions repair and run an fsck.
Grab Macosx cocktail or if you have Macjanitor and rebuild the databases & run the cron tasks.
Always worked for me :)
