There is one other thing that seems important in the diagnosing of the problems. When I tried to put 10.2 back on at first I tried archive and install. That had the same symptoms; a black screen. But when I did a clean install, it all worked again just fine. As I understand it the archive and install retains the system settings of the previous system. When I archived 10.2 and installed 10.3, it did not work. When I archived 10.3 and installed 10.2 it did not work. only when I did a clean install of 10.2 did things work as they should.

What's it all mean Mr. Natural? (Old comic book reference.;-)

Oh, and one very last thing; I'm using a Tech Solutions usb keyboard originally designed to work with Windows. It has white keys that are easier to see in low lighting. Anyway, when I installed 10.3, not only was the screen blank but the three LEDs at the top, right of the keyboard for number lock, caps lock and scroll lock, would go on for a few seconds then go off for a while. Then they would go on for a few seconds and then go off for a while. I watched it do that for half an hour with no other changes.

And that is all I have.

TIA,
        Anand
