What I think: When I call American Express (or any other corporation whose services I require) and get an obvious Indian accent, and after expending effort to communicate and finding they cannot help me at that location, I get extremely distressed - because I know that an American (of any race or sex) has lost a job to this offshore exponent of an American / multinational corporation that is avoiding taxes and making better profits FOR THEIR SHARHOLDERs AS OPPOSED TO THEIR CUSTOMERS (Emphasis intended). I am not comfortable with such unethical (in my values) actions because I am distressed by how corporations are authorized to be legal persons yet lack any sense of human ethical values, as long as they make profits for their stockholders, no matter how it harms the humans that need their services, or how many peoiple die from the use of their products (as in the case of weapons manufaturere and the "military Industrial complex" as we were warned of by Eisenhower, who was in a postion to know... So there in a mini-rant is why I agree about getting foreigners on a service call without the slightest hint of racist or sexist content. My best friend;s daughter may have lost her job to the offshore person, and while it may improve the life of an Indian or Sri Lankan (no reflection on the recent natural disaster...) it is bad for me and you. Unless you are a stockholder, in which case you have a conflict of interest. For the same reason I will not shop at Home Depot if there is a locally owned old fashioned hardware store nearby... I'll stop there... and also agree that it could have been worded more diplomatically in the first post. Thanks, Lou -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
