I guess it might be a problem they are having an awful hard time
solving. I thought the 10.3.7 update would solve the problem with
updated video drivers for the ATI cards, but no such luck.

Do yourself a favor and ask for a level 2 (or better) tech straight
away. You'll save yourself some time and aggravation. The level 2 that
I talked to was very knowledgable, but I still don't consider the
problem solved. I would go ahead and disble the QE first, and see if
that helps.

I think it is well worth it on PowerMac G5s. I have very little faith
in their hardware integrity, which I *never* thought I'd say about a
Mac. At least if the problems continue past the one year warranty, I
can get them fixed without a huge expenditure. Have you seen the cost
of currently selling Mac motherboards lately?

Just do it. I hope you're not a big gamer, because it fouls up a lot
of the Open GL stuff, too. The only game I play with any frequency is
Solitaire XL, which luckily is not very demanding so I play it on my
TiBook. I looks like crap on my G5...
