I would ditch the extra cable modem since that's unnecessary to have 2 cable modems in one household unless your son is running a web sever or a game server. Just get a 4 port switch/router and then connect everyone up to it. Wireless router would be cool but that might be the problem...Wireless connection dropping every now and then for a sec or so might be making your son's gaming pleasure slow.... Or not... How far is the wireless router from the other computer I presume or a Xbox? Of course the cable company will charge for another outlet. They're greedy down here..You could request a speed upgrade...You didn't say what speed your connection was.. 1mb? 3mb?
