I want a common folder that if I install an application that anyone who is a "user" on the computer can run.
Also, I try to go to a terminal window and type "su", to get the super user access, and I don't seem to have the password. Does it need the login name with the password? If I set up the machine, wouldn't I have that access, I am in the Admin group.
I know these are probably pathetically trivial questions, but since my experience is as a user in HP-UX and Solaris and as a avid Mac OS7.x, 8.x and 9.x user, these topics are somewhat foreign to me.
The reason I want "su" access is to get to an account on one of my HD's from a 10.1.x install that is from a previous owner. The 10.3.7 Disk Utility doesn't ack that that drive even has OSX on it. And neither does Startup Disk.
Thanks! Tom
