Attention Out Of Range H: 79.9 KHz V: 74.9 Hz
I saw this message over a black screen on an older Envision monitor with VGA adapter connected to a friend's Rev B Beige desktop after we attached a SCSI drive loaded with OS X 10.2.6 to the internal SCSI bus and attempted to boot from it. Previously the system had been running only OS 8.6 from an 80 GB IDE drive from the internal IDE/ATA bus. The internal SCSI bus had not been used except for a SCSI zip attached to the DB 25 external connector. I installed a 50 pin internal ribbon cable to the SCSI connector on the mobo to connect the drive.
PRAM zaps and CUDA reset did nothing. Still got the same monitor message.
When we tried to boot back to the ATA 8.6 drive the system froze (of course) and when we tried to boot from a OS 9.2.2 install CD the system said the CD was unreadable. Boots fine on two other beige MTs? Eventually the 8.6 drive booted again.
This system rejected this SCSI drive with 10.2.6 like a bad kidney. Boots fine on the internal SCSI of my beige MT? (Now, from controller cards... that's a different sad story you've all heard).
I recall a post regarding a similar message a few weeks back but could not find it. How do you get past this? For all I know we may have eventually been able to boot the SCSI drive had we been able to see what was going on.
Mike
