Isn't it interesting how many media appearences (TV, Movies) feature Macs and not windows PCs - is there some marketing campaign behind that or are the productions designers just smarter than real business owners?

Depends on who you ask, but apple has grown quite a bit and some estimates say they have as much as 10 percent of the computing market. I believe apple says 5-10%, A couple companies say 7%, a few others say 5%, and several others say 3%.
It all depends on who you ask :)
