This may be something else, but I had a similar thing happen recently on my brother-in-law's 6500 when we were in the process of setting up sbcglobal.net DSL access. We kept installing the Flash plug-in over & over again via automatic download into IE, & each time IE would be able to access Flash animations, until one quit IE. Then, when IE was re-launched, the ability to play Flash would mysteriously disappear, & we'd download the plug-in from Macromedia again, & then it would work, only to disappear at the next launch, much to our amazement & annoyance. It turns out that there were *two* installs of IE 5.1.x on the hard drive! The icon in the Launcher apparently launched the older version, & while we were in that the installer from Macromedia would scout the hd for the latest installed version of IE, & install it in *its* plug-in folder. Apparently the older version of IE was open at the time could access the plug-in while in the same session as the download occured (due to pointers in memory or something, I suppose), but when re-launched, the plug-in wouldn't be in the plug-in folder for *that* version, so it wouldn't load. It was 1 of the most devilish computer misbehaviors I've ever had to deal with...until we figured it out, then it seems so simple!
