I hate the way they made the volumes, they don't work like they used to, my version of OS X just wont open them (the new ones), I tried moving my old drive file completely I wanted to keep it intact, too much hassle I forget all the obstacles I found, my old drive ended up damaged and "too new" for the old version, couldn't downgrade it, a total failure and I lost all I used to have in my old Windows 98 drive, I ended up really angry. I know Apple is under no responsibility, but we've always lived in a PC world, don't you think that's why they had to develop SoftPC SoftWindows and Virtual PC in the first place?? Not to mention PC cards, solutions like this are being made all the time so your point was not made. >--- >>I just want to play those old DOS games that were never ported >>to the mac and can't be played on PC these days. > >An old PC will still be able to play them! This is upsetting. Whatever happened with the compatibility that Apple has always promised, back then (1990) when they spoke about compatibility, I really thought they would actually run DOS programs, which they never did, such a small program that fit in a 800k disk, why wouldn't they? For the price Macs were selling they honestly could have. That's why I had to later purchase Virtual PC 2.0, its too bad the program is too old for todays standards, I would still be using it. Since then the only version that worked fine for me was 5.0, anything newer sux. >--- >>With such advanced technology these days I don't understand >>how anyone has not written DOS for Mac. > >No-one has any use (commercial) for DOS, not even PC users!! >Why should anyone write a commercial product for that, or even >more unlikely, write it into the OS. > >Apple doesn't even support old Mac software like the old 680x0 >stuff from Classics and the like. Again, people have forgotten those games because they can't run them in Windows, you don't seem to get it. How come Nintendo releases PacMac for Gameboy and still sells like hotcakes? I can still run several b/w games made around 1986 in OS X under classic. A load of them. The reason why I do this is because as much as I LOVE the games these days, sometimes its nice to go back and play you cute little old games, its cool to brag to the PC users that I can still play old games in my "high end" OS X mac. >--- >My advice, as you mentiuoned games, is to get a real PC for $25, >a 486 or P1, at least that'll run it full speed! Another fact to prove my point, why would I buy a bulky PC to play those games when I can do it in my Mac? Think about what you just said. I do have a PC here, a 433Mhz Windows 98 which DOESNT run them! Thanks Larry, but do you really think you helped? I am asking for a solution here you give me all the alternatives, this is definitely, absolutely un-Mac-y. Lili -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
