OK, I am running Bochs, tried opening it in OS X but it wont do anything, I
opened it in OS 9 but I am wondering what to do, should I insert my DOS disk,
how do I call it? I can't seem to see any instructions on how to work with DOS
commands. Is there one or do I have to figure my way 'round it? If I should
get a disk image of my old DOS software, how do I work with it to install it,

Not to sound like a smart-ass, but you should read the Bochs documentation. It is too difficult to explain in a simple email, but there is good documentation for it.
I have used both Virtual PC and Bochs, and I greatly prefer VPC, even with all of its quirks.
That said, I find neither Bochs nor Virtual PC simple for getting old DOS software running. It is not simple to get a network connection between your virtual machine and your live system. It is not simple to get a mouse driver working in old versions of DOS.
Every time I play with Bochs or Virtual PC, I gain a new respect for the entire team that brought us Macintosh. It really is the power to crush the other kids.
