My Epson FW scanner (2450) has to be ON when the computer
boots. Otherwise I can't access it. I am also using 10.3.5,
on a G4 dual.
Since I leave the scanner off most of the time, this means
I have to reboot when I need to scan something. No biggie, for me.
If I did more scanning I'd just leave it on, I guess.

What's really odd is that on my OS9.1 FrankenMac (7600 w G3 upgrade)
the opposite was true--if the scanner was on at startup, the
computer would stall. So I'd have to shut off the scanner, then
reboot. At the time I thought this was some weirdness about the
FW card, but who knows.
