Hi list,
What is the maximum processor that came in this model. I understand it
has the processor on the main board. What is the 'daughter card' used
for?
300 or 333 was the biggest AFAIK. The processor on this model plugs into a ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) socket. This has a lever that when moved releases all the pins so you can plug in or remove the processor without any force, hence the name. Daughter cards were used in the earlier numbered PCI Macs (7200-9600). This had the processor and associated circuitry on a separate circuit board. They both do pretty much the same thing but are not compatible (although there is a daughter board that will take a ZIF processor, it's a third party product.
