I am in 9.2 side and I can't reply under OSX, (AOL X doesn't let me send
plain text emails) so I can't check personally, right this second. In OS X
there
is a menu for finder options, or preferences; in it you can choose to open a
new window everytime you open a folder [there is a small square that you can
check-mark], with time I've also learned how to "open a new finder window" to
do
things like this. But if it hadn't been for that option I would have been
completely lost when I switched to OSX for the first time.
