Higher levels of RAID offer different degrees of hot-swapability and security but since they require hardware RAID controllers are probably out of the realm of consideration here. --------------------------------------------------------------- On another note Highpoint (http://www.highpoint-tech.com) recently released their first Mac compatible raid controller, the RocketRAID 1820A. It is a 8 disk SATA controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, and JBOD. It requires OS X 10.3. It isn't a bad deal for $210.
